Carter’s Review

"The original 12-story, red-brick and cast-iron balcony structure on the southwest corner of 11th Street and University Place was designed in 1883 by Henry Hardenbergh, who later designed the Plaza Hotel. In 1923, the neo-Georgian-style 6-story building on the northwest corner at 10th Street was added. The entire project was converted from a hotel that had fallen on difficult times for many years with rather small units to a cooperative in 1985 with 204 apartments."
