Luckily, developers finally got the memo and started standardizing pet-friendly buildings with 5-star treatments and pet services --and out of those, we found the top 10, Buttons-approved, rentals.
#1 - MiMa, 450 West 42nd Street
MiMa is a soaring 63-story tower at the nexus of Times Square, Hudson Yards and Hell's Kitchen. It was reported that nearly one-third of all residents in this building are dog owners, so indoor and outdoor play spaces were an asbolute must. The soaring condo-rental hybrid has a Dog City pet center, where owners can arrange for grooming, training and play-dates for their furry friends --and a bone-shaped pool. Owners can also book walking, training and in-home feeding services or take a short walk to picturesque Hudson River Park for some quality play time.
#2 - 4545 Center Boulevard
This property accommodates one of the most phenomenal amenity packages in the city, spanning at roughly 50,000 square feet. Coupled with superb views of the Manhattan skyline, 4545 Center offers residents a sand beach volleyball court, two tennis courts, a reflecting pool, dog run, lawn, and sun deck with BBQ grills, lounge chairs and benches. As for 'human amenities', these include a health club, indoor swimming, sundeck with BBQ grills, and a lounge.
#5 - Abington House, 500 West 30th Street
While dogs are not allowed on the High Line, they can live right next to it at Abington House. The building features a spacious landscaped plaza under the elevated park and provides several High Line-viewing spots great for people-watching and gazing loningly at Hudson River sunsets. The building was designed by Robert AM Stern and stands across the street from Coach’s new headquarters and the Hudson Yards super-development. Most importantly, Related Companies insisted on including a second, indoor Dog City service center.
#6 - AVA DoBro, 100 Willoughby Street
This massive 57-story building has carved out plenty of space for our little furry friends. The building features a heated indoor/outdoor dog run and a WAG Pet Spa. The dog parks are divided for breeds of different sizes and the spa features JOG A DOG treadmills. The LEED Silver-rated building also hosts unique amenities such as an enchanted forest-themed children’s playroom and gorgeous rooftop spaces with indoor and outdoor lounge areas.
#7 - Caledonia, 450 West 17th Street
This condo-rental hybrid straddles the High Line and offers supreme access to Hudson River Park and its picturesque neighborhood walks. The building features its own separate dog door at the main entrance, a wash room and an in-building pet spa with grooming services provided by Dog City.
#8 - 456 Washington Street
This new Related Rentals development is situated across from a Hudson River Park's most extravagant dog runs. The run features separate sections for large and small dogs, step-activated sprinklers, water fountains and gray-blue pavement designed to appear vibrant blue through doggie-vision. 456 Washington is situated on West Street offering residents sunset views of the river, and within the building is a pet grooming and washing station.
#9 - 555W23, 555 West 23rd Street
555W23 is a two-building rental complex, less than a block away from the Hudson River waterfront. In addition to miles of strolling along the esplanade, pet-owners have access to the large Chelsea Waterside Park dog run less than a block away. The building is close to Hudson Yards and the High Line.
#10 - The Easton, 205 East 92nd Street
At the boundary of the Carnegie Hill and Yorkville neighborhoods of the Side, stands the 36-story/ 182-unit Upper East rental called The Easton. Related Companies must be self-proclaimed pet-lovers because this building is yet another to include a Dog City center at its base. The center offers 'day care' pet-sitting services, as well as spa and grooming catered to residents.
