Carter's Review
This pleasant, 13-story white-brick apartment house was erected in 1910 and designed by Neville & Bagge, who other buildings on the Upper West Side included 131 Riverside drive, 255 West 90th Street, 340 West 81st Street and 801 West End Avenue.
The building, which is known as the Manchester, has a doorman, a live-in superindendent, children's playroom, a bicycle room, stage and some decorative balconies. It is also known at 2880-8 Broadway.
This was one of four buildings designed by Neville & Bagge with extraordinary rooflines. The other three were the Cornwall at 255 East 90th Street and Bennington Corners at 801 and 817 West End Avenue. This building, however, no longer has its great and very ornate perforated roof line.
It is convenient to public transportation and not far from
Riverside park, the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine and Columbia University.
It has 108 cooperative apartments and was converted in 1982.
