Carter's Review
This pleasant, red-brick apartment building at 1095 Park Avenue on the southeast corner at 89th Street in the heart of the desirable Carnegie Hill neighborhood was erected in 1930 and converted to a cooperative in 1951.
The 18-story edifice has 68 apartments.
It was designed by Schwartz & Gross, the architectural firm whose other Park Avenue buildings include 470, 525, 885, 888, 910, 911, 930, 941, 970, 983, 1045, 1070, 1105, 1125 and 1165.
It was built by the Tishmans.
Bottom Line
A red-brick, pre-war co-operative with large living rooms with fireplaces in a prime section of Carnegie Hill convenient to Central Park, restaurants, schools and religious institutions.
Description
The building has a two-story limestone base and a bandcourse above the fourth floor. It has limestone quoins between the third and fourth floors and masonry quoins above.
There is a very handsome frieze and an ornamental balcony below the fifth floor.
It has a canopied entrance, sidewalk landscaping and attractive terraces on the top four floors.
It has inconsistent fenestration and some protruding air-conditioners.

Apartment 2DE is a three-bedroom unit that has a 13-foot-long entry foyer that leads to a 21-foot-long gallery that opens onto a 29-foot-long living room with a fireplace and a 17-foot-long enclosed, windowed kitchen. The apartment also has a 20-foot-long den with a “dining area” and a laundry.
Apartment 6C is a three-bedroom unit with a 24-foot-long gallery that opens onto a 28-foot-long living room with a wood-burning fireplace that leads to a 23-foot-long dining room next to a 14-foot-long butler’s pantry and a 15-foot-long kitchen and two maids’ rooms.
Apartment 2G is a two-bedroom unit with a 19-foot-long gallery that leads to a 28-foot-long living room with a wood-burning fireplace that opens onto a 23-foot-long dining room next to a pantry and a 14-foot-long kitchen and two maids’ rooms.
Apartment 14A is a two-bedroom unit with a 20-foot-wide entrance gallery that opens onto a 23-foot-long living room with a wood-burning fireplace and an eat-in, 17-foot-long kitchen.
Location
There are many fine private schools in this neighborhood as well as many cultural and religious institutions. The building is convenient to public transportation and excellent retail.
