One of the more imposing side-street buildings in the Carnegie Hill vicinity is 12 East 97th Street between Fifth and Madison avenues.

The red-brick cooperative apartment building has 113 units on 11 floors and its notable for its very long entrance canopy and sunken central plaza. The building is fully staffed with a full-time doorman and resident manager, and features a lovely, recently renovated front entry garden. It provides a common laundry room in the basement, which also houses a bike room and individually designated storage. Pied-a-terres and pets are permitted. It is steps away from Central Park, 5th Avenue's Museum Mile and directly across the street from the beautiful St. Nicholas Orthodox Church.

It is across the street from the west-bound cross-town bus stop and very close to an entrance to Central Park. It is also one block north of a nice, large children's playground just inside the park and numerous museums along Museum Mile on Fifth Avenue. It is also very close to Mt. Sinai Hospital just to the north and the Conservatory gardens in Central Park.

There are numerous restaurants and florists in the neighborhood that is just to the north of the Carnegie Hill district.

There is an entrance to the FDR Drive along the East River at 96th Street.

Carter’s Review

"One of the more imposing side-street buildings in the Carnegie Hill vicinity is 12 East 97th Street between Fifth and Madison Avenues.

It has a doorman, common storage, a bicycle room and is pet friendly and has a washer-dryer facility in the basement. The building permits protruding window air-conditioners and it is also across the street from the picturesque onion domes of the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cathedral."

Price/Room (Est)

Why are we displaying the estimated price per room?

For some co-ops, instead of price per square foot, we use an estimate of the number of rooms for each sold apartment to chart price changes over time. This is because many co-op listings do not include square footage information, and this makes it challenging to calculate accurate square-foot averages.

By displaying the price per estimated room count, we are able to provide a more reliable and consistent metric for comparing sales in the building. While we hope that this gives you a clearer sense of price trends in the building, all data should be independently verified. All data provided are only estimates and should not be used to make any purchase or sale decision.
