The original Carhart Mansion was designed in the French neo-classical style by master Architect, Horace Trumbauer, celebrated practitioner of some of the finest classical buildings in New York City. The new addition is also conceived in the classical style by award- winning Manhattan-based Zivkovic Associates Architects in collaboration with London architect, John Simpson. Mr. Simpson is responsible for the recently completed Queens Galleries at Buckingham Palace.
Their joint vision, for a contextual addition to both the original building and historic neighborhood, ensures continuity of the grace and elegance of Trumbauers work. The Carhart Mansion is the touchstone of quality in architecture and interior design and has received the internationally coveted Palladio Award for Classical Architecture in 2007, and has also received the Carnegie Hill Neighbors Association Enrichment Award for its valuable contribution to Carnegie Hills rich architectural history.
