Carter Horsley's Building Review Carter Horsley

53 CITYREALTY RATING

Carter's Review

This attractive, brown-brick apartment building was erected in 1910 and converted to a cooperative in 1958, the same year as was its nearly identical twin on the south side of the same Madison Avenue block.

The 11-story building has 56 apartments, the same number as its "twin" at 45 East 82nd Street. Because of a slight incline between 82nd and 83rd Streets along the avenue, this building's floors are slightly higher than those in its "twin."

The building has a doorman, four bandcourses, consistent fenestration and a canopied entrance but no sidewalk landscaping, no health club and no garage.

This is a pleasant, quiet block although there is considerable traffic on the avenue.

This is a good Upper East Side location as it is only one block from Central Park and is close to many major cultural institutions, religious institutions, and private schools. There are good coffee shops, two restaurants and a stationery store and a supermarket within a two-block walk and an express subway station and major retail stores are nearby at Lexington Avenue and 86th Street.
