Carter's Review
This large, pale-gray-brick cooperative apartment building has a prime Carnegie Hill location, close to many major cultural institutions, private schools and religious institutions.
It was erected in 1947 and has 61 apartments. It has some terraces, some corner windows, sidewalk landscaping, permits protruding air-conditioners and a canopied entrance with a doorman.
The building's attractive, white-tiled retail frontage on Madison Avenue is occupied by a Food Emporium supermarket and it is directly across 87th Street from the Park Avenue Synagogue, which is clad in a warm, yellow-colored, Mankato stone.
There is excellent bus service and an express subway station is at Lexington Avenue and 86th Street. There are many nice boutiques in the area as well as some charming restaurants and 86th Street has substantial retail activity a couple of blocks to the east.
Although this is not the most beautiful sidestreet in the area, Central Park is just one block away to the west and the Guggenheim Museum just two blocks away.
