Carter's Review
This elegant, mid-block building is one of the city's best "post-war," white-brick apartment houses.
The 15-story building was erected in 1963 and is a cooperative with 83 units.
The building has a one-story, white-marble base with a entrance marquee and canopy. It has a revolving-door entrance, a doorman, many bay windows, a garage, discrete air-conditioners, lush sidewalk landscaping, consistent fenestration and a very nice white-marble, one-story grill at its western end to block off views of the adjoining building's service alley.
It is on an attractive and quiet sidestreet in a choice section of the Upper East Side. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is around the corner on Fifth Avenue and P.S. 6, one of the city's finest public schools, is a block away on Madison Avenue.
It is, of course, very close to Central Park and there is good bus service in the area although the nearest subway station is several blocks away at Lexington Avenue and 86th Street. It is convenient to many boutiques, a supermarket and several restaurants on Madison Avenue and there are numerous cultural and religious institutions nearby as well.
It has no balconies, no health club and no roof deck.
