Carter’s Review

"This 31-story apartment tower was erected in 1985 with some air-rights from neighboring properties and therefore has excellent views to the west.

The building originally had 147 rental apartments but it was acquired in 2006 by Broad Street Development, which converted it to a residential condominium with about 87 units and renamed the building Maison East."

I live here. The Maison East, a 2007 Condominium conversion by Broad Street Development, is a 31-story building originally designed by Wechsler, Grasso & Menzius and built in 1982. Surprisingly, it is not a cookie-cutter building with predictable layouts but a building with only 98 homes with more than 20 unique floor plans plus some one-of-a-kind layouts and nearly all with balconies or terraces. As a result of the conversion, the building now has a new lobby, new elevators, hallways, bicycle room, children?s playroom, storage bins and in early 2010 went through a window replacement project making Maison East one of the quietest buildings in the Upper East Side.
The renovation of each of the units features spacious marble bathrooms, hardwood strip floors, Stainless Steel appliances (Jenn-Air, Bosch and Liebherr) and all homes come complete with a washer and dryer. What?s more is that the building is zoned for the prestigious P.S. 6 and is steps away from the affordable gym ? BOOM fitness ? with over 14,000 sf of space to sweat and tone yourself. And speaking of fitness, Maison East is only a short 4 minute walk to the Lexington Avenue Subway lines on either 77th or 86th Streets.
