Carter's Review

This is one of the most handsome Post-Modern apartment buildings in the city.

The red-brick, mid-block building has an impressive driveway entrance with a two-story rusticated limestone base. A large circular window is just above the entrance.

The 15-story building has 18 condominium apartments.

It was built in 1987 and was designed by Beyer Blinder Belle.

It is across the street from a large plaza of the apartment tower at 50 East 89th Street and it is also across from the large rear garden of 1088 Park Avenue. As a result, it has considerable light and air.

In their book, "The A.I.A. Guide to New York, Fourth Edition" (Three Rivers Press, 2000), Elliot Willensky and Norval White describe this building as "a restrained midblock handshake between the traditions of the 1920s and those of the Post modern," adding that "The French-doored balconettes are stylishly outfitted with flat metal railings."

The building has a doorman and sidewalk landscaping.
