Carter’s Review

"This impressive complex at 455 Central Park West between 105th and 106th streets began as The New York Cancer Hospital in 1887 and then became a nursing home before it was redeveloped as a spectacular and very dramatic residential condominium in 2005.

The original building with its broad turrets and chapel, which was designed by Charles Coolidge Haight in French chateau style with English Gothic trim, became an official New York City landmark in 1976. "

Broker & Buyer Comments

Incredible landmark building - looks like a castle or chateau on the park, huge turrets, spires, nothing like it anywhere in the city. Great 47` indoor pool, health spa, concierge, catering, parking garage in the building. If the windows are open, you might hear Phil Collins playing his drum set in one of the landmark units!

On the park, between 105th & 106th. Nearest subway, 110th. Interesting shops and restaurants don`t pick up until Broadway to the east - Manhattan Ave is first street to west, residential, then Columbus & Amsterdam haven`t caught up with all the new shops and amenities and so forth on Broadway - but that`s only a short walk to the west - easy distance to Columbia, Riverside Park, and, of course, all the legendary elegance of Central Park West.
