Carter's Review

This handsome, 17-story, red-brick apartment building at 101 Central Park West between 70th and 71st Street was erected in 1929 and designed by Schwartz & Gross, whose other Central Park West buildings include the Art Deco-style 55 and 336.

It was developed by Abraham Bricken whose other projects in the city included 1185 Park Avenue, also designed by Schwartz & Gross, and numerous office buildings in the Garment Center.

This building was converted to a co-operative in 1953 and has 96 apartments. Pied-a-terre's are not permitted. The Board will on a case by case basis consider applications by trusts.

Bottom Line

One block south of the Dakota and a major cross-town street, this very attractive, pre-war building with large apartments is also convenient to the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and good public transportation. The location offers front row seats to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
