Carter's Review

This orange-brick, 13-story, rental apartment building at 433 West 21st Street between 9th and 10th avenues in Chelsea was built in 1930 and has 69 apartments.  It is known as the Consumer Cooperative Services Apartments.

It is managed by The Brodsky Organization and is directly across from the General Theological Seminary. It was designed by Springsteen & Goldhammer.

It is also near the High Line and numerous restaurants.

Bottom Line

On an attractive block across from the General Theological Seminary, this building has a prime Chelsea location that is close to the High Line and many restaurants and art galleries.

Description

It has a couple of setbacks and is surmounted by a two-story-high watertank enclosure.

It permits protruding air-conditioners.

It has very handsome sidewalk landscaping surrounded by a nice low-rise fence.

Amenities

The building has a roof deck, a courtyard, a bicycle room, a live-in superintendent, and a laundry. It is pet-friendly.

Apartments

Apartment 3D is a two-bedroom unit with a long entry foyer that leads to an enclosed and windowed kitchen and a 16-foot-long living room.

Apartment 7F is a one-bedroom unit with a long entry foyer that leads to a large living/dining room with a fireplace and an open kitchen.

Apartment 9B is a studio unit with a 23-foot-long living room with an enclosed kitchen and a fireplace.
