Overview of Spencer Mews at 99 Clinton Street

Located in the heart of the Brooklyn Heights Historic District, the Gothic Revival-style church at 99 Clinton Street boasts a rich history. As Brownstoner notes, shortly before the church closed in the mid-1970s, it served as a meeting place for the Gay Alliance of Brooklyn, one of the city's first gay rights groups outside of Manhattan. When the building was converted into a cooperative, original features such as high ceilings, exposed stone, and stained glass windows were thoughtfully preserved.

99 Clinton Street was built as a church in 1850 and converted to a cooperative in 1970. It is in a prime Brooklyn Heights location near Brooklyn Bridge Park, Cadman Plaza Park, the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, popular restaurants, gourmet supermarkets, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Manhattan Bridge, and the 2/3, 4/5, A/C, F/G, and R trains.

Carter’s Review

"99 Clinton is a former historic church built in 1850 that has since been transformed into a residential cooperative in 1980. Located in the heart of Brooklyn Heights, 99 Clinton's residences provide  flexible layouts, stained glass windows, exposed limestone, timbered beams, double height cathedral ceilings, wood burning fireplaces and original pine floors."

Price/Room (Est)

Why are we displaying the estimated price per room?

For some co-ops, instead of price per square foot, we use an estimate of the number of rooms for each sold apartment to chart price changes over time. This is because many co-op listings do not include square footage information, and this makes it challenging to calculate accurate square-foot averages.

By displaying the price per estimated room count, we are able to provide a more reliable and consistent metric for comparing sales in the building. While we hope that this gives you a clearer sense of price trends in the building, all data should be independently verified. All data provided are only estimates and should not be used to make any purchase or sale decision.
