Carter's Review

This handsome, two-building condominium complex of red-brick, 6-story buildings straddling Fifth Avenue at 111th and 112th streets was erected in 1989.  The rent-stabilized buildings were converted in 2017 to condominiums in a non-eviction process by Tahl Propp Equities, which is headed by Rodney M. Propp, chairman, and Joseph A. Tahl, president. 

The building at 1325 Fifth has 71 units and the one at 1330 has 80. 

The buildings are one block north of the great twin, 35-story towers of the Arthur A. Schomburg Plaza complex designed by Gruzen & Partners and Castro-Bianco, Pisconeri & Feder in 1979 at Duke Ellington Circle at 110th Street and Fifth Avenue. 

There is good public transportation and this complex is also near the attractive Harlem Meer at the northeast corner of Central Park. 

Mojo Stumer Associates was the interior decorator for the conversion.

Bottom Line

A handsome, mid-rise complex of two buildings facing one another across Fifth Avenue between 111th and 112th Streets, one block north of Central Park.

Description

The buildings have large, entrance marquees flanked by retail space and the red-masonry façades are modulated with quoins. 

They also have discrete air-conditioners.

Amenities

The buildings have 24-hour attended lobbies, live-in superintendents, garages, roof decks, bicycle rooms, fitness centers and storage.

 

Apartments

The apartments have washers and dryers, marble kitchen countertops and Bosch appliances. 

Apartment 6B is a two-bedroom unit with an entrance foyer that leads to a 23-foot-long living/dining room with an open kitchen with a breakfast bar. 

Apartment 6M is a one-bedroom unit with a 16-foot-long living/dining room with an open kitchen with a breakfast bar. 

Apartment 6L is a two-bedroom unit with an entrance hall that leads past an open kitchen with a breakfast bar to a 23-foot-long living/dining room.
