Carter's Review

This Art Deco-style, 27-story building at 101 Wall Street at Front Street was designed as an office building by Schwartz & Gross in 1931 and converted to a residential condominium in 2017.  It has 52 apartments.

Piet Boon was the architect for the conversion and Karl Fisher was the architect of record.

The conversion was undertaken by the Claremont Group whose other Manhattan projects include 8 Union Square South on the southwest corner of 14th Street and University Place and the Claremont House at 52 East 72nd Street.

Bottom Line

A thin and handsome Art Deco tower on Wall Street with many setbacks and many amenities.

Description

The top of the building has 9 setbacks facing the river.

The building has a three-story rusticated base with a large entrance marquee a large lobby and sidewalk landscaping.

Amenities

The building has an entrance marquee, a landscaped roof deck, a children’s playroom, a residents’ lounge with a bar and catering facilities, a library, a fitness center, a garage, a bicycle room and storage.

Apartments

Apartments have 9-foot-6-inch, beamed ceilings.

Apartment 22A is a three-bedroom unit with a large entry foyer that leads to a 22-foot-long living dining room with an open kitchen with an island.

Apartment 18B is a three-bedroom unit with an entry foyer that leads past an open, pass-through kitchen to a 21-foot-long corner living/dining room.  Two of the bedrooms have very long halls.

Apartment 12C is a two-bedroom unit with a very long entry foyer that leads past an open dining room with a center table to a 16-foot-long living/dining room.  The master bedroom has a very long hall.

Apartment 7B is a two-bedroom unit with a long entry foyer that leads to a large dining area next to an open pass-through kitchen and a 17-foot-long living room.

Apartment 7A is a one-bedroom unit with an entry foyer that opens onto an open kitchen with a pass-through to a 16-foot-long living/dining room.
