Carter’s Review

"The former Downtown Athletic Club building at 20 West Street across from Battery Park City was converted to 288 condominiums in 2006 by The Moinian Group that originally had planned to convert the units to rentals.

The Art Deco-style building, which is also known as 19 West Street and 28-32 Washington Street, was designated as an official New York City landmark November 14, 2000."

Broker & Buyer Comments

This "trophy" 45-story Art Deco landmark, formerly home to the Downtown Athletic Club, offers "sophisticated living" at the crossroads of FiDi and Battery Park City. Residents praise the "world-class" fitness center with spa services, while the "impeccably maintained" amenities include a sun terrace, screening room, and "hotel-style" perks like complimentary breakfast service. The "prime downtown location" puts Manhattan's waterfront playground and financial hub "at your doorstep," though some note "laundry isn't in-unit." The "elegant" lobby with marble and wood paneling sets the tone for this "historic-meets-luxury" conversion where "breathtaking harbor views" come standard.
