Carter Horsley's Building Review Carter Horsley

59 CITYREALTY RATING

Carter's Review

This 6-story, mid-block, red-brick building at 211 Thompson Street in Greenwich Village had “fire balconies” installed in 1975 and has 96 co-operative rental apartments.

Fire balconies are fire escapes that connect two adjoining apartments but have not stairs to other floors.

The building is convenient to Washington Square Park and Little Italy.

Bottom Line

Many of the apartments have mezzanines and the proximity to Washington Square Park, New York University and SoHo make this location desirable to many young people.

Description

The building has two small octagonal windows over its canopy entrance.

It also has angular black fencing that reinforces the angularity of the “fire balconies.”

The building has discrete air-conditioners.
