Carter's Review

Occupying a prime site in the heart of the most elegant section of Greenwich Village and Lower Fifth Avenue, this 16-story apartment building was erected in 1923 and converted to a cooperative in 1970.

To the north, it overlooks the gardens of the Ascension Episcopal Church and the sidestreet is one of the most impressive in the city.

The brown-brick building has attractive limestone trim and pilasters around its base and a large and long lobby. The doorman building has 152 apartments, a sundeck and a canopied entrance.

Three short blocks from Washington Square and one long block from the famous Balduci's food store on the Avenue of the Americas, the building is not far from several subway stations and cross-town buses run on Eighth and Ninth Streets.

One of the most attractive sections of Manhattan, this historic, landmark neighborhood is convenient to the popular Flatiron and SoHo districts.
