Carter's Review
Marketing started in the summer of 2007 for The Fitgerald, a 47-unit residential condominium development at 257 West 117th Street in Harlem.
The handsome building was erected in 1892 and in recent years housed the John A. Reisenbach School and at one point the building was called The Clayton.
The 5th through the 7th floors have 4 apartments each. The 2nd through the 4th floors have 8 apartments each. There are 7 apartments on the first floor.
The EM Design Group is the architect for the conversion, which is being undertaken by 257-117 Realty LLC of which Bernard and Robert Friedman are members. Bernard Friedman is also president of Penmark Realty Corporation and the Friedmans have about 60 buildings under ownership and management with more than 6,000 apartments.
Apartments have pre-installed intrusion alarms and Asko washers and dryers. Kitchens have stainless steel Liebherr refrigerators, Bosch cooktops and ovens, Miele dishwashers and white lacquer cabinetry.
Bathrooms have Toto toilets and Wenge cabinetry, Kohler tubs and white Carrara marble walls and floors.
The building has a roof deck and apartments range in size from a duplex one-bedroom to a one-bedroom with home office to two-bedroom units. A two-bedroom unit on the seventh floor with 2,025 square feet is priced at about $1,650,000 and a one-bedroom-unit on the third floor with 1,079 square feet with priced at about $755,000 and a one-bedroom unit on the third floor with 948 square feet is priced at about $575,000.
