Carter's Review
This nice, red- and brown-brick, 16-story building was erected as a cooperative in 1929 and has only 30 apartments.
The building, which is flanked by low-rise buildings that give it considerably more "light-and-air" than most other midblock buildings on major cross-streets, has a one-story limestone base with limestone pilasters on the second and third floors and limestone window surrounds on the fourth floor.
The building has a balustraded roofline, a canopied entrance, inconsistent fenestration, and permits protruding air-conditioners.
It has a doorman but no garage and it has an exposed rooftop watertank.
It is convenient to some cultural institutions and many world-famous boutiques along Madison Avenue as well as many restaurants and neighborhood shopping along Lexington and Third Avenues.
Although the nearest subway station is several blocks away, there is good bus service on this major cross-town street.
