Carter's Review

This soaring, 50-story residential condominium tower at 200 East 65th Street on the southeast corner at Third Avenue is known as Bristol Plaza.

It was formerly known as Milro Tower using the first three letters of the last name of two of the developers, the Milstein brothers, Paul and Seymour, and the initials of the third developer, Robert Olnick.

The building was completed in 1987 and has 308 apartments.

It was designed by Ulrich Franzen & Associates and Philip Birnbaum & Associates.

Bottom Line

This well-proportioned tower rises rather majestically and defiantly without setbacks and its small but impressive, double-height lobby reeks with luxury.  Its apartments are relatively small in plan but have high ceilings.

Description

The beige-brick building has a one-story retail base on Third Avenue, large plazas on both 64th and 65th Streets and a mid-rise, mid-block building with a curved roof.

The tower is distinguished by its corner bay windows and its open-frame roof with numerous telecommunications “dishes” that give the top a rather dashing, wind-blown look.

The elevator cabs are paneled and have vaulted ceilings.  The retail base on the avenue is very handsome and there is considerable sidewalk landscaping.

Amenities

The building has a doorman, a concierge, a garage, a health club with a pool, and a roof deck.
