Carter's Review
This midblock building on a quiet sidestreet between Second and First Avenues near the center of the Upper East side was erected in 1961 and converted to a cooperative in 1985.The white-brick, 13-story building has 142 apartments, some of which have balconies. When this building was constructed, this area of the Upper East Side was still deficient in charm. The move of Sotheby's, the auction house, from Madison Avenue to 72nd Street and York Avenue led a proliferation of new, luxury apartment towers in the vicinity and a major upgrading of the area, which now abounds in restaurants. The building is a short walk from many famous Upper East Side retail institutions on Third Avenue such as Gracious Home and Grace's Marketplace.
