Carter Horsley's Building Review Carter Horsley
Oct 09, 2019

Carter's Review

This building at 5-33 48th Street Avenue in Long Island City was formerly a zipper factory and was converted in 2019 to 41 condominium apartments by Circle F Capital.

SRA Architecture + Engineering designed the conversion.

Circle F Capital and SRA Architecture + Engineering are also involved in the construction of another condominium project, an 11-story, angled building nearby at 22-43 Jackson Avenue at 46th Avenue.

This red-brick factory building was expanded to a 7-story building with much of the top two floors given a glass façade while the rest of the building has multi-paned fenestration.  It is known as The Zipper Building.

It is across from the Hunters Point Community Park and a short walk from the Gantry Plaza State Park and the Hunters Point South Ferry.

The Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue subway station is three blocks away.

Bottom Line

A well-located, mid-rise condo conversion in Long Island City, this building has good amenities and a convenient location.
