Sales have started for the 7-story-unit condominium apartment building at 215 East 81st Street.
The building formerly had 47 rental apartments and will now have 40 duplex condominium units.
Prices range from about $652,300 for a 605-square foot apartment on the third floor to about $833,800 for a 786-square-foot unit on the fifth floor.
East 81st Street LLC of which Ben Suky is a principal is the sponsor of the conversion.
Global Arch is the architect for the project, which has been named The Duplex.
According to Joseph Pilewski of Global Arch, the building will have a two-tone stucco facade and its unusual fenestration reflects different internal levels. All apartments have some outdoor space.
The building will have a 24-hour concierge, a roof deck and a laundry room.
Occupancy is anticipated for late next year.
The building is not far from Lenox Hill Hospital and the Lexington Avenue subway at 77th Street and there is good cross-town bus service on 79th Street and many nearby restaurants.
