Architectural firm ODA New York is known for its modern designs that present creative, if not provocative, interpretations of city zoning codes. A stone's throw from 15 Union Square West, ODA's transformation of the Tiffany & Company headquarters, work is winding down on 101 West 14th Street, a "Tetris-inspired" condominium located on the former site of a mid-century bank building and developed by Gemini Rosemont. The design cantilevers over a neighboring building, appears to be composed of glass boxes, and was recently celebrated at the NYCxDESIGN Awards in the On the Boards category.
101 West 14th Street's address on the corner of West 14th Street and Sixth Avenue puts it at the nexus of Greenwich Village, Union Square, Chelsea, and the Flatiron District, home of some of New York's most critically acclaimed restaurants, shopping, and cultural offerings. New mural "Ripples of Peace + Calm" was recently completed in front of Union Square Park and along the busway that has transformed transportation and quality of life along 14th Street. The F/M and PATH trains are practically right outside the front door, and the building is a short walk from the 1 train and the 4/5/6, N/Q/R/W and L trains at Union Square.
