The eastern part of Greenpoint is on the quiet side and still retains much of its Polish heritage. Unfortunately, as the Brooklyn residential boom moves east, its not likely to stay that way for long: as seen with a five-story, 15-unit condominium planned for 19 Hausman Street. Plans filed with the city show that the elevatored building will have a roof deck, and 10 parking places. Developer M Development NYC’s website states that Leyden Lewis Design Studio will be in charge of the interiors.
A two-family, wood frame house surrounded by a brick and ironwork gate is currently on the site and demolition permits were filed for it in early 2017. The new building will stand incongruously to its low-scale, pre-war block with renderings showing a Modernist construct looming over its neighbors.
