In the years since Greenpoint’s rezoning, several developers have welcomed the opportunity to convert commercial buildings to residential. Such is the case at 211 McGuinness Boulevard, where construction has just topped out on Stellar Management's mixed-income, eight-story rental built on the former site of five smaller buildings. Gene Kaufman designed a singular building designed to look like several individual buildings. The brick, metal, and wooden building will be topped with curved roof decks and a set back wall of glass.
197 studio through two-bedroom units will be on top of ground floor retail and common space, and 20% of these will be set aside for affordable housing. Interiors will incorporate vintage brick, blackened steel, and burnished concrete finishes as a nod to Greenpoint’s industrial history. The attended building’s roof deck will be outfitted with a pool, outdoor screening room, seating, grills, and plants. The cellar has 112 parking spots and 101 bike spaces. Additional amenities include a back garden, game room, fitness center, and concierge service.
211 McGuinness Boulevard is on a tree-lined street four blocks from the Greenpoint Avenue subway station. Popular Manhattan Avenue restaurants and bars are a short walk away.
