In a city where buildings offer an indoor skate park and in-house meditation classes led by MNDFL instructors, New York clearly does not suffer from a shortage of hot residential amenities. But a brand-new in-home amenity has just burst onto the scene: a fifth bedroom!
Madison Equities, the developer of 212 Fifth Avenue, just announced two new opportunities for growing families in search of a home. The handsome, 21-story former office building at 212 Fifth Avenue faces Madison Square Park on the southeast corner at 26th Street and was recently converted to 48 residential condominiums. Responding to the demand for five-bedroom floor plans, prospective buyers can now combine units 21A and 21B to create one combined full-floor apartment, or they can purchase the half-floor residence.
Madison Equities is offering to combine each residence at no cost to the buyer.

According to Nikki Field of Sotheby’s International Realty, broker for the property, “We are seeing a growing demand for homes with multiple bedrooms. Four-bedroom listings are the most generous options available in today’s marketplace.”
The combined unit 21AB is for sale at $34M. The five-bedroom, five-bathroom residence will have 7,239 square feet on a full floor, which includes an impressive 55 feet of entertaining space. Residence 15AA, just listed for sale at $14.65M, is a five-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom home with 4,155 square feet of space. While both homes offer spectacular views and an abundance of light, 21AB has four exposures drenching the home in sunlight.
Both residences are the last remaining park-facing units in the building. Additionally, the three remaining three- and four-bedroom units start at $6.875M. The other five-bedroom residence available is the triplex penthouse, which also features over 5,700 square feet of private terraces and is listed for $62.8M. As of this writing, 38 units have closed in the building with prices ranging from $3.8M to $28.2M.
The building amenities include a 24-hour doorman, concierge, premier building manager, Jay Wright-designed fitness center with adjoining yoga studio and private treatment room, golf simulator, screening room, boardroom, game room, children's playroom, lounge and cold storage for fresh food deliveries. Storage rooms and staff quarters are available for purchase.
