An under construction new building at 280 Linden Boulevard will bring 4-stories and 8 units to the site of a former 2-story house. Arbie Development has posted a rendering to Instagram that shows a variegated facade composed of brick, wood panels and switchback bay windows. The new building will loom over its 2-story Victorian neighbors which were beautifully intact prior to the development. Alex Halimi under 280 Linden LLC is listed as the site owner and purchased the house in 2015 for $862,500. Infocus is listed as the architect.
The rendering also shows passers-by on the sidewalk staring at the building, and it’s no wonder. Height is not the only way the building contrasts sharply with its neighbors; a light brick façade stands out with red buildings on either side. On its own, the design would be eye-catching in a positive way. However, in this unsettling situation, the new build may well end up overly conspicuous and out of place.
