While much of Astoria’s new development has been devoted to the new condominiums that have taken neighboring Long Island City by storm, there is another, highly attractive way to buy in the area. The four-building Astoria Lights cooperative dates back to 1929, but has been updated to meet the needs and wishes of the contemporary buyer. Six months after the sales launch, 70 percent of units have already sold.
Updates to the apartments include new 8’ doors, Emtek hardware, LED lighting, in-unit washer/dryers, sleek marble baths, and new German kitchens with Caesarstone countertops and sleek Bosch appliances. However, developer RockFarmer Properties is going one step further and combining some of the remaining apartments into grand-scale three- to four-bedroom units with highly unique layouts and architectural details.

Whatever size apartment Astoria Lights residents live in, they have access to a new amenity suite that could give certain area condos a run for their money. A Sky Deck features rooftop cabanas, a Zen garden, a screening area, and sweeping skyline and river views. A new courtyard boasts a bocce ball court, hammock grove, and grilling and dining areas. Indoor amenities include a lounge, co-working area, fitness center, children’s playroom, pet grooming area, package room, bike room, and central laundry room.
