While the size of the new food hall is to be determined, boutique firm Colicchio Consulting has confirmed that it was inspired by San Francisco’s China Live, which has been described as a Chinese version of Eataly. The space will include a mix of “fast-cash” restaurants and more upscale “chef-driven” restaurants. It will also have room for performance spaces and nightlife programming with the aim of “giving young people something to do at night,” as executive managing director Phil Colicchio says. If his name sounds familiar, it’s because his cousin is acclaimed chef Tom Colicchio, who is part of the consultancy’s network of chefs.
Sky View Parc was Blackstone’s first project in Queens, but it won’t be the last to add luster to Flushing. The food hall is expected to attract gourmets all over New York, which will be aided by the nearby Main Street subway stop. Down the street, Tangram House West is preparing to launch sales this summer.
