When we last looked at Central Park Tower (225 West 57th Street) over the summer, we uncovered sparkling renderings showing the 1,550-foot-high building rising into the Midtown skyline. Now YIMBY brings us three additional renderings and reports construction is nearly at the halfway mark, or about 700 feet above street level.
The new renderings show a new view of the tower from the south and give us a closer look at the interiors.
The tower designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Associates will include large windows and extruded metallic elements along the exterior, as well as a distinctive waveform crown. Fellow supertall 111 West 57th Street is absent from the renderings, but both One57 and 220 Central Park South rise in the supertall's shadow.

Construction of Central Park Tower is projected to finish in 2019. Shoppers all over the city will be happy to hear that a seven-story Nordstrom will open in the base of the building. James Carpenter Design Associates is responsible for the design of this portion, which will rise 280 feet to its top floor. From the cantilever on up, there will be 183 condos with an average of 5,000 square feet apiece and a lavish amenity suite. The uppermost penthouse will be a triplex spanning levels 129-131. Move-in for all units is expected in 2020.
