More residential development in Brooklyn Heights is underway. Permits have been filed for a 2-story vertical enlargement and renovation of an existing 2-story building at 133 Montague Street, between Henry and Clinton Streets. It had been most recently used as a Banana Republic store, but that ended up closing its doors abruptly in April of last year. The proposed enlargement will bring an additional 3,187 square feet of retail space and 7,474 square feet of residential space to the lot, which will yield 9 apartments - likely condos.
Since the site, once home to The Brooklyn Heights Seminary, falls within the Brooklyn Heights Historic District, the proposed addition and renovation must be approved by the LPC first.
Permits call for a retail store and lobby on the first floor and three apartments on each subsequent floor. Despite the small nature of the project, future residents will be able to enjoy two outdoor spaces - a roof deck and a common terrace on the second floor.
The owner is listed as Eli M Dweck and the architect as Marin Architects.
