A little over a year ago, CityRealty reported on new renderings of Court Square City Tower, aka Queen's future tallest building, aka a pretty big deal, and since then, there hasn't been much to report on – until today. CityRealty got a chance to drop by the LIC site, located at 23-15 44th Drive, and saw excavation work has started. It'll be some time before we see the structure topped out at its supertall status of 984 feet (66 stories), but when you consider permits were just approved in May last year, construction is happening relatively fast.
In this article:
Court Square City View Tower (let's hope they shorten this name), will have 802 condominium units. The tower's design isn't very edgy, with Hill West Architects opting for an all-glass curtainwall building with re-entrant corners creating a place for balconies, but it will boast "unparalleled 360-degree views of Manhattan and the surrounding skyline."
According to permits, there will be 15,052 square feet of commercial space and 765,940 of residential. As for amenities, there will be a fitness room, sauna, spa, yoga room, laundry room, storage, lobby/lounge, bike room, parking, deck, pool, playroom, and four lounges. Most of the amenities, including the pool, will be located in the double-height sky-lit amenity space on the third floor.
The building's LIC location makes it fantastic for transportation – there's even an MTA entry at the building base. Residents can catch the E, M, G and 7 trains nearby and enjoy close proximity to cafes, restaurants, the waterfront, MoMA PS1, the John F. Murray playground and a dog park.
