It’s gotten increasingly difficult to find a quiet section of Hell’s Kitchen, and a vacant lot at 410 West 49th Street is about to see more action. Both developer Galahad Realty Corporation and designer of record SBLM are tight-lipped about this project, but a rendering shows a pale brick building with oversized windows rising conspicuously higher than its nearest neighbors. Permits filed with the city state that it will be 65 feet tall and only hold four units, including two with mezzanines that are effectively duplexes. Amenities will include basement recreation space and storage.
The new condo is rising in a robust section of Hell’s Kitchen with popular bars and restaurants on surrounding blocks, and a short distance from the 50th Street subway stops. Developers have also taken note: The ODA-designed, amenity-rich Charlie West is down the street. A little closer, Bloom on Forty Fifth will bring a flexible format Target and 92 new units to the neighborhood.
