Fortuna Realty Group’s $100 million hotel project at 25 West 38th Street has finally gotten out of the ground. To be known as the the Aloft New York Midtown Hotel, the 26-floor, 75,000-SF development will have 180 rooms and a rooftop bar. According to a 2015 article from the New York Observer, there will be an Aloft wxyz bar, which serves finger foods and an outdoor rooftop living room for hotel guests. Nobutaka Ashihara Architect is serving as the project’s architect and Paul Vega of VLDG is designing the interiors.
Fortuna purchased the two pre-existing buildings at the site from Shimshon Klugman’s Quality Capital and Shifra Hager’s Cornell Realty Management in 2012. In October 2015, there was a partial building collapse killing one construction worker and injuring another. Now the project appears back on track with the first floor emerging above ground.
