The latest eye-catching condo to flank the High Line has taken shape at 501 West 24th Street and Tenth Ave. Named The Getty, the Peter-Marino-designed building tops out at 12 stories and is now fully covered in a shimmering, geometric curtain wall.
The building directly overlooks the elevated park and will join other West Chelsea newcomers such as Zaha Hadid’s 520 West 28th, Roman & Williams' The Fitzroy and Bjarke Ingels' The Eleventh. In lieu of the gas station that once stood at the site, the ground-floor will be home to the Hill Art Foundation, a gallery showcasing the art collection of Blackstone Group’s vice chairman, J. Tomilson Hill.

Victor Group is the Getty's developer and Michael Shvo owns a stake in the project. Last month, the team gave us the first taste of the Marino-sculpted interiors with a rendering that shows palatial ceiling heights and split-level floors. There will be just six residences in all, each is said to be unique in appearance and adorned with layers of texture and fine finishes to match. Architectural Digest reported the interiors will be fitted with stones from more than 80 countries.
Sales are expected to launch by the end of the summer and the building will be delivered sometime this fall. According to the offering plan uncovered by the Real Deal, full-floor residences will start at $15 million a pop, and a duplex penthouse with its own terrace and private pool will top the building. That 6,400-square-foot spread has a record-breaking sticker price of $50 million. Stay tuned for the official sales launch.
