When most people picture New York City, they imagine the world's most iconic skyline filled with tall buildings. To look at the top contracts from May 13-19, 2024, that is what luxury buyers picture, too -- homes in Manhattan's tallest buildings accounted for five of the ten most expensive contracts. However, the prices were not quite so stratospheric; fewer sales over $10 million entered contract than in recent weeks.
For the second time in 2024, One High Line had Manhattan's top contract: Residence #WEST27A led by a comfortable margin, asking $17,915,000, up slightly from $17,565,000 on the building's offering plan. The 3,474-square-foot home starts with a massive corner Great Room; additional features include a custom kitchen by Bulthaup, a west-facing primary suite, and three secondary bedrooms with en suite baths.

Further uptown, a total of $16,800,000 across two units was signed at Central Park Tower, the tallest residential building in the world. Residence #69N, a high-floor two-bedroom, had the week's fourth-highest asking price at $10,000,000. Several stories down, Residence #36D had the tenth-highest asking price of $6,800,000.
Also of note, Residence #57B, a half-floor three-bedroom at Sutton Tower, the tallest building in Sutton Place, had the week's eighth-highest contract with an asking price of $7,050,000. This represents a 16% reduction from the $8.4 million listed in the building's initial offering plan, but nevertheless put Sutton Tower among Manhattan's top contracts for the first time.
Moreover, the sales team at 520 Fifth Avenue notes that the forthcoming supertall has signed twenty contracts in twenty days. Full completion is estimated to be about two years away, but buyers are already drawn to its eye-catching design with massive arched windows. Indeed, this feature is in demand throughout the boroughs -- Williamsburg boutique condominium The Graham only launched sales last week, but a full-floor two-bedroom has already entered contract.
