Following the demolition of two Financial District walk-ups, work has begun on the Hotel Indigo outpost set to rise in their place. The chain claims that no two properties are alike, and that is not in doubt: As The Rinaldi Group excavates the site in preparation for the 25-story, 128-room hotel, it has released a rendering of a tower with oversized windows and an eye-catching façade. Gene Kaufman Architect is listed on permits as the designer of record, and Atlas Hospitality is the project's developer.
According to plans filed with the city, amenities will include a basement fitness center, ground-floor restaurant and bar, and 25th floor bar promising panoramic skyline and river views. There will be no more than six units per floor. With a location three blocks from the resurgent South Street Seaport and two blocks from the New York Stock Exchange, it will be in demand by business and leisure travelers alike.
