Over the past several years, ODA Architecture has shaken up the architecture scene in New York with more than a dozen eye-catching developments. Now, their latest project called the Charlie West at 505 West 43rd Street appears to have literally been through an earthquake. According to a press release, the 123-unit condo development comprises a pair of 16-story buildings rising above the Amtrak right-of-way in Hell’s Kitchen. The project is being co-developed by a joint-venture between Elad Group and Mi&Co.
Exterior renderings show a lively façade of staggered floor-to-ceiling-windows framed by factory-style brown brick. Mullions will be finished in a golden patina and will sharply juxtapose the roughly-textured brick walls.

Per the release, “Charlie West will bring a downtown interior style and some of the most affordable prices in all of New York City new development to the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood.” Andres Escobar is designing the interiors and seeks to fuse raw, natural materials with sumptuous textures and bespoke finishes. The building’s 123 condos will range from studios to four-bedroom homes, including penthouses with substantial terraces commanding skyline views. Cantor-Pecorella will lead sales and marketing and will officially kick off in June 2017.
Amenities will include a sizeable “industrial-chic” lobby that will also serve as a curated library and private lounge, a double-height indoor pool, a children’s playroom, a central courtyard, and a two-level fitness center.
Just two weeks ago, we brought you a rundown of developments redefining this corner of Hell’s Kitchen. Other noteworthy projects include Gotham’s Inkwell condo conversion and XIN Development’s 615 Tenth Avenue, that will also house a Target store.
