A new commercial project is making its way to 115 Broadway in South Williamsburg, but it's giving us some serious Flatiron Building vibes with its curved edge and triangular shape. Renderings are courtesy of Cayuga Capital Management (CCM), the Brooklyn-based firm that's developing the project, which will rise on the corner of Broadway and Bedford Avenue. Unfortunately, that's the same corner where the famous "Mona Lisa of Williamsburg" mural can be found (see below), and it looks like this new development will cover it.
CCM purchased the vacant lot back in 2016 and filed permits shortly after for the 4-story building, which will hold nearly 4,000 square feet of commercial space made up of retail and offices on floors 1, 2, and 4, and 1,189 square feet for a health care facility on the 3rd floor. DXA Studio is behind the design. They're also behind the in-progress condo conversion at 350 West 71st Street in the Upper West Side, which launched sales in May.
Matching Williamsburg's exciting nightlife, 115 Broadway will feature a roof terrace with a bar. CCM lists 2020 as the expected completion year. Right outside, the George B. Post Plaza, known for it's bright yellow umbrellas, is currently undergoing a redesign, which should bring more greenery, seating areas, a concession kiosk, and a small-scale performance space.
