A sprightly new condo project at 165 Chrystie Street has reached its uppermost floor and its architects, ODA New York, have published a new rendering of its interlocking façade (above). Rising from a tiny site across from Sara D. Roosevelt Park, the project will join a slew of upscale developments altering the once shabby yet characterful area. The project’s block bounded by Rivington Stanton, Chrystie and the Bowery is home to the New Museum and its future expansion being designed by Rem Koolhaas’ OMA, Ace’s Sister City Hotel, and a stalled development at 173 Chrystie Street also being designed by ODA.
The developers of 165 Chrystie are Nexus Building Development Group in partnership with DRK Chrystie LLC and Nortco Associates LLC. The building rises ten floors and soon its concrete frame will be encased by oversized windows of varying dimensions, framed by canted, copper-toned surrounds.

Inside there will be nine full-floor condos and a ground-level duplex. Pricing has yet to be announced but the offering plan filed with the Attorney General’s office shows the nine residences will have a total sellout of $32,186,289. One block north of the development is the recently-finished condo-hotel tower at 215 Chrystie Street. There, 11 closed transactions in the building have averaged north of $3,500 a foot and a handful of resale units have asks approaching $4,000 a foot.
