Permits were filed this week for a mixed-use 15-story, 34-unit residential development at 814-816 Amsterdam Avenue, between West 99th and West 100th Streets in Manhattan's Broadway Corridor neighborhood. The vacant lot is owned by its development-savvy next-door neighbors, St. Michael's Church, but permits were filed by Michael Marino of Veracity Equities.
If approved by the DOB, Veracity will erect a 264-foot-tall building that will host 157,197 square feet of residential space, a whopping 60,150 square feet for a 4-story community facility, and 14,851 square feet of retail. Apartments (likely condos) will begin on the 5th floor and hold 6 each on floors 5-8 and the remaining floors will host 1 or 2 apartments. The only amenity to speak of so far is the 9th-floor outdoor recreation area. SRA Architecture + Engineering will be designing the building.

Back in the early 2000s, the site almost became dorms for the Jewish Theological Seminary. Most recently, a 14-story, 69-unit condo building by Cheever Development and Getz Obstfeld was proposed. Although the developers were confident that the deal would go through, the church ended up believing the best course of action was to "explore other options and drop the old agreement" when approached with other offers (TRD). Cheever sued in 2013 but were ultimately unsuccessful.
