
Aftershocks of the Amazon departure are still reverberating through Long Island City and we can easily say landowners and developers have not been taking the multi-billion-dollar change of heart well. Even without Amazon, however, Long Island City remains one of the best situated, well-connected, and underdeveloped neighborhoods in the city through its overburdened infrastructure and lack of basic retail/essentials still need to be addressed.
Steps from HQ2's proposed site, the company Commercial Electrical Contractors, Inc. are moving forward with plans to build a 12-unit residential building at 10-28 - 10-32 47th Avenue

filed earlier this week show the company's headquarter building
--a two-floor corrugated cinder block building and parking lot will be replaced by a four-story condo designed by STAT Architecture
. A rendering on their page depicts a possible design to come. The building will have two- to four units per floor, an exercise room, tenant storage, and a bike room.
The site is two blocks from Gantry State Park and the East River waterfront. The G train's 21st Street station is a block east and the Court Square station serving the 7, G, E, is within a 10-minute walk. The general area is low-rise and defined by a mix of walk-ups and townhouse as well as small commercial/industrial buildings. The latest new development condo to come online nearby are the Griffin Townhouses
