The rendering for a new residential project coming to 2175 Bergen Street at the Crown Heights and Brownsville border has been revealed. Samuel Wieder Architects shared an image of the new building which rises to seven floors and will have 41 residential units and ground level retail. The site is at the intersection of Mother Gaston Boulevard and Bergen Street and presently, it holds a two-story residential building though demolition permits have been filed. While permits for the new building have not been filed, recent activity at the site shows there were two closings in late December 2018 by an LLC.
The contemporary design shows a brick façade with some cladding and corner units with floor-to-ceiling windows and private terraces. The location is near restaurants, retail and transit including the L at East New York and Atlantic Avenues and the C at Rockaway Avenue and Fulton Street. The architect is known for a variety of new Brooklyn developments including residential projects at 135-137 Prospect Avenue in Gowanus, 1515 Park Place in Crown Heights and 1190 Fulton Street in Bed-Stuy.
