Back in November, we had a first look at the renderings for a new South Slope (aka the new Park Slope) condo at 628 Fifth Avenue, between 17th and 18th Streets. Now, the 6-story structure is topped out and has a new rendering posted on the construction fence. It looks like Tom Winter Architects have modified the design, opting for a tri-color facade made up of red-orange and black brick with gray panels at the top.
The vibrant exterior will blend nicely into the surrounding area, where new residential projects have just sprung, including another TWA condo project across the street, The Aaron, and The Alexey, a Rubix-cube-like rental over on Fourth Avenue.

As we previously covered, 628 Fifth Avenue was home to Eagle Provisions, a Polish grocery store that had served the community for 75 years before it closed its doors in 2015, when Brooklyn developers George Malafis and Ioannis Glyptis acquired the site for $7.5 million.
628 Fifth Avenue will hold some commercial space and 20,602 square feet of residential, meaning its 20 apartments will be condo-sized measuring over 1,000 square feet each. Most of the floors will contain 4 units. The median price for current condos in the area is $1.05M.

Amenities, detailed in the floor schedule, will include a fitness center, bike storage, laundry facilities, a parking garage for 14 cars, a 2nd-floor recreation room, a roof deck, and even a dog spa – further proof that South Slope is morphing into its animal-loving neighbor, Park Slope.
As shown on TWA's Instagram, city views, including a tiny Statue of Liberty, can be seen from the building's terrace!
