To the delight of the real estate community, and to the chagrin of some local activists, there is no stopping the forward momentum at 200 Amsterdam Avenue. A few short weeks after construction topped out and the penthouses were unveiled, sales officially launched on all 112 units in the soaring 52-story tower that combines a contemporary glass curtain wall with Art Deco-inspired elements in a design by Elkus Manfredi Architects.

All residences feature interiors by CetraRuddy, spacious layouts, gracious entry galleries, riff-cut white oak floors, and sweeping views of the Hudson River, Central Park, and the Manhattan skyline. Contemporary kitchens come outfitted with Carrara marble countertops and islands, modern oak cabinetry, custom nickel accents, and top-of-the-line appliances. Marble master baths have intricately patterned flooring, pristine nickel hardware, and pristine lacquered vanities.
SJP Properties, which developed the property in partnership with Mitsui Fudosan America, notes that 200 Amsterdam Avenue is one of very few to rise in the Lincoln Center area, and the world-famous performing arts center inspired some of its amenities. Down the hall from a soundproofed rehearsal room, the children’s playroom is known as the Little Composers Room and decorated with musical motifs. Moreover, residents receive a complimentary one-year membership to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts that includes presale access, free festival tickets, and opportunities for backstage access and special events that can be booked through the concierge service.
The three dedicated floors of amenities also include such health and wellness offerings as a gym by The Wright Fit, a yoga/Pilates studio, a 75’ saltwater pool, and saunas and steam rooms. A luxurious wood-paneled library and a club room with billiards table round out the social amenities.
Prices range from $3.1 million for an east-facing one-bedroom to $21 million for a full-floor four-bedroom home with 360-degree views. Additionally, the building’s duplex penthouses will be priced at roughly $40 million.

Despite city regulators approving the building multiple times, community groups and elected officials have objected to its "gerrymandered" lot and contended that it extends beyond the building site. At the end of July, the Municipal Art Society of New York (MAS) and the Committee for Environmentally Sound Development (CFESD) jointly filed a new petition against the project. In the latest news, the CFESD has announced that they will consider bringing the fight to a higher court.
