Permits have been filed for a four-story residential building with 18 units at 135-137 Prospect Avenue in Gowanus. A rendering from Samuel Wieder Architects shows a modern structure with a brick façade, expansive windows and penthouses with rooftop terraces. A pair of permits for the site indicate the structure will actually be two distinct buildings, and renderings show two separate residential entrances. Samuel Wieder Architects is listed on permits along with property owner Martin Landau.
This area of Gowanus has a mix of residential and industrial structures and the site for the new development replaces a single-story industrial building. The location is adjacent to an elevated portion of the Prospect Expressway leading to the Gowanus Expressway (I-278) but is just one block to the R subway station at Prospect Avenue and Fourth Avenue.
